The founder of the American / Japanese & Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate & Kobudo Federation is Grand Master Danny T. Zaino who holds an 8th degree (Hachidan) Black Belt in Japanese / Okinawan GoJu-Ryu. Originally from Long Island, New York, Grand Master Zaino began his martial arts studies in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida at the age of fifteen with the local YMCA. Dabbling in the arts of Kang Do Kwon Tae Kwon Do and Goju-Ryu, Grand Master Zaino began serious training after High School when he joined the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. Stationed in Korea he studied the art of Moo Duk Kwan Tae Kwon Do. After 13 months he was transferred to Ft. Bliss, Texas where he joined the US Army Karate Team and became a member of the Black Knight Karate Association studying the art of Japanese Goju-Ryu. During this time he competed and performed extensively on the international level. Upon completion of his military service, Grand Master Zaino became a Florida Law Enforcement Officer. In 1984 he earned the title of "Kumite Champion" at the Florida Police Olympics. After leaving law enforcement to pursue a full time career in teaching Goju-Ryu Karate, Grand Master Zaino studied several disciplines to enhance his skills and broaden his understanding of the marital arts. He currently holds ranks in the following systems: Japanese/Okinawan Goju-Ryu and Kobudo, Nisei and Chinese Goju-Ryu, Karado Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Thai Boxing, and JuJitsu. With over 3 decades of dedication to the arts, Grand Master Zaino has incorporated his knowledge from these various styles into his own system, the American / Japanese & Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate & Kobudo Federation. His favorite of all the Okinawan weapons is the Tonfa and In 1997 he developed his "Art of the Pure Warrior Sports Tonfa" for sports martial arts competition. He is the recipient of numerous Hall of Fame awards in the following categories: 7 Time Hall of Fame Winner for "Promoter of the Year" for his famous "Battle of Florida" event, "Organization of the Year" for his "Florida Palm Coast Karate Events" Tournament Circuit, "Innovative Weapon Design of the Year" for his "Pure Warrior" Sports Tonfa design, 6 Time "Coach of the Year" for his Team Americas "World Martial Arts Show Team" (formerly National Team Pepsi), 2 Time "Master of the Year", and 2 Time "Sports Radio Show of the Year" for his "Danny & Theresa Zaino's Martial Arts Radio Hour". With over 3 decades of dedication to the Martial Arts Grand Master Zaino has also produced numerous state and world champions in the areas of Kumite, Forms, and Weaponry. Grand Master Zaino has accomplished everything a professional Karate teacher could ever dream of and more. His more recent career achievements include hosting his own worldwide radio network shows which include the “Danny & Theresa Zaino’s Martial Arts Radio Hour”, "Martial Arts Spotlight", and "The Martial Arts Success Show" hosted on the Action Radio Network and his own Radio Network The Martial Arts Entertainment Radio, publisher of his own online magazine Martial Arts Entertainment Magazine, director of the National Promoters League "World Event Division", and he is also featured in two documentary films about martial arts, “Born to Compete” and “The Warrior’s Quest” which he is helping to direct and produce. He has co-written three instructional books and will soon be releasing eight instructional videos on his system. Grand Master Zaino radiates a rare energy which is the force behind his unique "Goju-Ryu fighting style", with his legendary "Pure Warrior" Sport Tonfa System. He was reared in a natural athletic environment, passed on through generations of his Italian ancestry. He learned his strong competitive spirit from his parents.
